What are the main office hours?+
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
How do I become a member?+
You may sign up in person at the main office or via the website. To join online, click the link “Join OLLI-HU”, fill out the form, and pay your dues.
How can members volunteer?+
Activities are organized and operated by our members. As a democratic membership organization, OLLI at HU depends on the volunteer services of its members. Volunteering brings involvement in the Institute in meaningful and satisfying ways.
Can members bring a guest to classes or activities?+
OLLI classes and activities are designed for members only. However, members may bring a guest for a one-time visit as a class auditor; the guest may attend as long as they pay the appropriate fee and are approved by OLLI at HU staff.
Where are classes located?+
Classes are held at the W.O. Lawton Building and various local satellite locations, depending on the schedule for each term.
Do members need parking passes?+
When attending day and/or overnight trips, a parking pass is required and should be obtained in advance through the appropriate office or event instructions.
Can accommodations be provided for accessibility needs?+
We are dedicated to making our courses and events accessible to all participants. Please contact us in advance so we can coordinate accommodations that support your participation and comfort.
What is the inclement weather policy?+
OLLI follows Hampton University’s weather policy. Please check the university’s official weather announcements and any communicated updates before attending in-person classes or events.
How do I sign up for trips?+
Trip sign-ups are only permitted on the designated sign-up days. We encourage members to mark their calendars and plan accordingly to secure their spot.
What is the refund and credit policy?+
No refunds or credits will be given for local, overnight trips, and movie days. Please review event-specific policies before registering.

Membership

Annual Membership

$60 per year

Membership includes all OLLI at Hampton University programs, events, and access to the Institute’s member-led activities. The annual fee is the foundation of the organization’s programming and supports the community experience.

Membership fee benefits

  • Access to OLLI classes, lectures, and special events.
  • Participation in member-led activities and social programs.
  • Eligibility to join the broader Hampton University lifelong learning community.

Course fee

Most courses are available for an additional $60 fee, depending on the offering and format.

Examples of membership scenarios

Scenario 1: Member joins for the year and attends a single course. Total: $60 annual membership plus the course fee if applicable.

Scenario 2: Member joins and participates in a full slate of classes and activities throughout the year. Total: $60 annual membership plus $60 per course where applicable.

Scenario 3: Member attends events without enrolling in courses. Total: $60 annual membership only, with no additional course fee.
